Isn't massage just expensive pampering?

For sure! Some folks do use massage as an occasional pricey pamper-y fluff-n-buff — that's a real thing. It can also be a meaningful part of managing pain, stress, nervous system dysregulation, or recovery from surgery or injury. Spas are the worst at using hyped, trendy terms that make it hard to take seriously when you've already seen too many fluffy promises. Both things can be true at once.
How We Approach It
We use clear session goals, SOAP notes at each visit, targeted techniques for pain and mobility, and honest conversations about what massage can and cannot accomplish. We don't oversell it. We also don't undersell it to seem humble.
What to Discuss With Your Therapist
Tell your LMT what your body is dealing with, what you've tried so far, and what a meaningful result would look like — even a small one. That conversation changes what we do.
Between-Session Considerations
If you've only ever had relaxation-style massage, one focused therapeutic session will feel noticeably different. That's worth experiencing before making up your mind.
